This video explores the use of a flame torch to throw exaggerated shapes on the potters wheel. Flaming the pot at various stages stiffens the clay just enough to stretch and form the pot into shapes that are difficult to produce without making the piece with thick walled sections. This piece will be trimmed later when leather hard and a foot rim will be turned into the base to complete the piec...

Almost magic in porcelain!
That’s very nice artwork on your shirt also.
Where do you get the rubber grips for the chuck?
Hi Bill. Can I ask what type of disc you have on your grinder?
A standard masonry or concrete disc
Super weird music paired with this video. All I could focus on. Seriously it’s just clay. Calm down
No dust mask?
7:39
starting at 12:35 there is steam/smoke/dust coming out of the "my left side of the screen". what is that is it smoke or dust?
Great video! Can the stoneware slip be a cone 6?
Discovered your channel today. Thanks for sharing so much information. Do you have information on the actual glazes and corresponding firing schedules?

I’ve been experimenting with a heat gun but I’m wondering is a flame better?
LOVE the music
Excellent job
Amazing
Wonderful throwing. My only suggestion is to not add the music. It detracts from your videos.
Can you link the site to buy the gripper? Great video thank you!
The parts are made by Festo

I've been throwing for few years and your work is one of the best I've ever seen. The angle of the bottom is something impressive, even using a torch, Cheers

Loved it - especially the gamble!
Hi bill. Will you make a video about the last part of the process? You say you will in the video here but i cant find a number #4?
how does the global not collapse? firing help hardening the bottom part?
Doesn’t the plate underneath the pottery get burnt
Thanks for these videos Bill! they are very important to me, thanks so much!!
Oh oh oh !!! Thank you so very much for this video. It has been so frustrating to loose almost every pot that I quite trying even though I enjoy crystalline immensely. The instructor we had never gave any information to us other than how's he's always done it with the expectation that you won't get many good pots with no cracks, foot defaults, or ones that can never get off the catcher without cutting it off with a grinder. It was just too much work for so little reward. I'm so excited to start the new semester (although just got an email saying on campus classes will now only be on line again after just having our first in-class semester in the past year and a half - so it throws a kink into the mix). I wish I could jump through the screen snd give you a hug - that's how excited and appreciative I am - sharing your years of experience has renewed my excitement to give Crystalline a go again and I am confident with your advice, I'm going to have many successes to build upon and grow. Your style of presentation was easy to follow, thorough, and visually presented excellently Thank you - thank you ❤️
Thank you! So many useful tips! It's like an eye-opener!
Thanks so mu,ch for this generous video
Thank you for this tour of your studio Bill. Could you please do a more in-depth video on the design of your gas kiln?
For those that want to experiment with Crystalline glazes, this is a great video and explained in `great detail`. I still have the Crystalline vase you gave to me Bill, it's always on display here. Thank you. Stay safe and well.
